Psychological Sciences
The Department of Psychological Sciences is committed to providing students with an educational foundation that prepares them for employment and or entry into graduate school. Just as important, our curriculum encourages students to combine critical thinking skills with empathy and compassion, enabling them to meet interpersonal challenges and promote the common welfare in an increasingly multicultural society.
Unique characteristics of our psychology curriculum include:
- combining the teaching of statistics with instruction in research methodology, which facilitates mastery and prepares students to become effective research scientists;
- the choice between a Research Seminar course in which students pursue their own research interests and a Psychology Service Experience course in which students acquire valuable experience applying course content as they work with diverse members of the community; and
- a series of Postgraduate Preparation courses designed to equip students to make successful transitions from college into employment and/or graduate school.
