Philosophy (BA) Professional Major
Program Mission
The mission of the Philosophy Program is to direct students’ attention to fundamental but often unnoticed aspects of human experience and to uncover and analyze the hidden presuppositions of their intellectual and emotional commitments. In doing so, it also seeks to integrate the knowledge the student has acquired in the various disciplines. Secondly, it prepares some students for further study in philosophy at the graduate level.
Program Outcomes
- Graduates will be able to write a major paper on a philosophical topic.
- Graduates will have obtained a broad, overall understanding of philosophy.
- Graduates will be able to engage philosophically diverse viewpoints.
